BIO
BIO
East coast portrait artist, Sandy Bock, has shared her love of family memories through her unique art since 2010. Originally from Soudeton Pennsylvania, a small town outside of Philadelphia, Sandy studied art and design throughout her childhood and as an adult in 1989 at the historical Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. She furthered her study of traditional art at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 2006, and painting and sculpture at The Academy of Art University of San Francisco 2007-2009 through their Online programs.
As a parent to two children, one with several medical needs, she spent hours in hospital waiting rooms but inspired by the bonds of parents and children she witnessed, Sandy started sketching the sleeping parents holding babies, and the children gathered around the tables coloring and playing games.
Later, she volunteered with animals through pet rescue and wildlife rehabilitation organizations. Her love for animals inspired her to begin offering pet portraits in 2010. More recently, she began incorporating people into her portrait art, and now also offers house portraits inspired by her passion for home as the center of family life and where lasting memories are made.

Sandy's layering style comes from her training in oil painting. She has incorporated what she learned from that medium into pastel, colored pencil, and watercolor. Her portraits have rich color and layering as well as an organic attention to detail she integrates from her love of rustic country art. Sandy's art is all hand drawn from your photos in a traditional style or a composition unique to your ideas.
